RBSE Class 10 Board Exams Twice From 2026-27: New Rules Explained

As per the notification, The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will conduct two Class 10 board examinations from the 2026-27 academic session. The new system has been introduced with the objective of reducing examination-related pressure and ensuring that students do not have to wait for another academic session if they are dissatisfied with their performance in one or more subjects.

Students who qualify in this examination will then be eligible to appear for the second board examination, which will serve as an opportunity to improve marks. Under the new arrangement, students can seek improvement in a maximum of three subjects through the second examination.

The decision was announced by Madan Dilawar, Rajasthan’s School Education and Panchayati Raj Minister. Under the revised examination structure, every Class 10 student will have to take the first board examination. However, appearing for the second examination will not be mandatory. Students who are satisfied with their marks in the first attempt can retain those results and choose not to sit for the second examination.

The first RBSE Class 10 board examination is expected to be held in February-March, while the second examination is scheduled for May-June. Both examinations will follow the Class 10 syllabus and will have a similar examination pattern and marking scheme.

Students who appear for both examinations will have their results determined on the basis of their better performance in the two attempts. This means that the second examination will not disadvantage students who choose to take it for improvement. However, eligibility for the second examination is subject to an important condition: only students who qualify in the first board examination will be permitted to appear for the second examination.
